On June 15, 2012, the investigative journalist Tongam Rina was critically injured by several shots to her spine and abdomen in front of the editorial office of the north Indian newspaper "Arunachal Times". She made a name for herself with uncomfortable investigations into women's rights, corruption and political and environmental scandals.
